Daryl Z.
"I
was in an argument with somebody and they eagle
clawed my throat. I pushed him to the ground and
he came back with a hay maker to my jaw. It was
at that point that I chose to [use the martial
arts you taught me to defend myself....] Because
of the training we both walked away without
injury, I was able to apply a joint lock and
choke hold maneuver and subdue my attacker.
I am writing for two reasons, to thank you
and because I want you to know the difference
Source Academy training made in my life.
Training at the source taught me that I can do
anything I put my mind to. The way I describe it
to people is this, " They make you dig until
you hit bedrock and then they make you dig
deeper.".
Greg M. (current student)
"I have been with this school since opening day [in 2008.]
The instructors are full of positive attitude and spirit.
I have really rekindled my love of learning and working out
from the people I have met here. Every training class and
every student I have met here has developed this attitude,
great people."
Gonzalo Flores - Master instructor of Okinawan Kenpo Karate
"Where else can you learn some great self defense skills,
get a great work out and actually understand there is more
to martial arts (and life) than conflict and regroup? Do a
favor for your body, mind and soul: develop all three with a
place that is fun, enjoyable for the family and provides
some basic proven life skills in the art of life
protection."
Further Information on Filipino Martial Arts
A term indicating "bladed art" this warrior art of the
Philipines was passed down through generations. At a certain
point in Spanish rule they outlawed the word and the
practice of this nearly lost art form. Practiced in secret
or disguised as a dance the modern Kali practitioner slowly
transitioned from blades to a rattan stick for training.
Although the rattan is popular we still train with a variety
of edged weapons including swords, daggers and balisongs.
(the butterfly knife)
Maestro Ted LucayLucay (founder) developed his system from
several sources including his father. The Kali portion of
this system comes through Maestro Ted by way of the
Villabrille-Lontayao system. Maestro Ted was the first
graduate of the Inosanto Academy in Marina Del Rey,
California. Accordingly in his passing Maestro Ted passed
the consummate practice of LKJ onto Maestro Leonard Trigg.
